“As a sole practitioner, my primary objective is to work closely and in collaboration with the client to produce the most optimum design given all the criteria of your site, the micro climate, energy efficiency, your specific brief, and the budget.”

After graduating I worked in private practice in Adelaide for three years and as Design Studio-master at the University of Adelaide.

In 1980 I joined MLH Architects and Planners in Cape Town. I became an Associate in the practice in 1982 and a Partner/Director in 1984 until my return to Adelaide in 1990.

On my return to Adelaide, I joined KMH Neighbour Lapsys Architects as Architect and Practice Co-coordinator of the Interior Design Office. In 1993 I opened my own practice in Adelaide under the name Anton Johnson Architect.

My work has covered a very broad range with particular experience in Commercial Office Design, Educational Buildings, Auditorium, Hotels, Libraries, Winery buildings, Medical centres, High Density Residential, and numerous Residences and Extensions to residences.

I have been the design principal in all the projects and project architect for the documentation and building contract stages to completion.

As principal of Anton Johnson Architect, I am personally and directly involved with all projects through all stages. All clients, consultant and builder contact is carried out personally by me and all projects receive constant direct attention at all times.

The practice has a staff compliment of contract architects and drafts persons who carry out the CAD working drawings, site surveys and other contract documentation under my direct supervision. This team is structured to suit the size, complexity and programme of each project to deliver on time and on budget to the clients needs.

RAIA Award of Merit Residential 2006

“The jury agreed unanimously that the residence confronted yet emersed itself harmoniously into the site, bringing the landscape into the interior. The result is a credit to the architect and the client for their courage and enthusiasm.”
